Viju Khote A.K.A. Kalia Of Sholay Died At 77

Veteran film and theater actor Viju Khote popularly known for playing the role of Kalia in 1975 movie Sholay passed away in Mumbai. He was 77. Viju Khote has appeared in over 300 films both Hindi and Marathi. He has also acted in numerous television shows and plays.

IRCTC’s IPO Opens With 10% Initial Discount On September 30

The state-owned Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is planning to offer an Initial Public Offering (IPO) at Rs. 315-320 per share. But IRCTC is offering 10% discount to retail investors and eligible employees. They can buy shares at Rs. 305-310.

Highlights of IRCTC’s IPO

  • Government expects to raise around Rs. 628-638 crore with IPO
  • It comprises of an offer for sale of 2 crore shares
  • It represents 12.50% of total paid-up equity by the Ministry of Railways
  • Addition of employee reservation portion of 1.6 lack shares increases the total paid-up equity to12.6%
  • Issues and all proceeds from the IPO will go the selling shareholder
  • The minimum lot is 40 equity share

Expected date of release for IPO

IRCTC’s IPO is expected to be launched on October 9 and the shared would be listed in both NSE and BSE on October 14. The biggest factor in the IPO is that IRCTC won’t receive any proceeds from the offer.

Established in 1999, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation is a state-owned company. It has achieved the status of a Miniratna company within government companies. September 28th is the birthday of legendary Indian socialist revolutionary Bhagat Singh. His two great deeds of revolution against the British in India and execution by the British at the age of 23 made him a hero of the Indian independence movement.

Birth of Bhagat Singh

28th September 2019 is the 88th birthday of Bhagat Singh born in 1907 at Chak No. 105 GB, Banga Village, Jaranwala Tehsil in the Lyallpur district of the Punjab Province of British India. His parents were Kishan Singh and Vidyavati.

Bhagat Singh inherited patriotism from family – his grandfather Arjun Singh was a follower of Swami Dayananda Saraswati and was associated with Hindu reformist movement, Arya Samaj. Bhagat Singh was also influenced by Arya Samaj. His father and uncles were associated with the Ghadar Party led by Kartar Singh Sarbha and Har Dayal.

Schooling of Bhagat Singh

He didn’t attend the Khalsa High School in Lahore because his father disapproved the school’s allegiance to British government. Bhagat Singh went to Dayanand Anglo-Vedic High School of Arya Samaj. He visited Jallianwala Bagh hours after the massacre. He was 12 then. After two years, Bhagat Singh welcomed revolutionaries with other villagers.

Bhagat Singh and Mahatma Gandhi

Earlier Singh was a follower of Gandhi but latter’s calling of non-co-operation movement after the violent incident of Chauri Chaura in 1922. Disillusioned by the philosophy of non-violence of Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh joined the Young Revolutionary Movement and started advocating violent overthrow of British government.
