In a closely held match, Juventus beat Roma 3-1 in Coppa Italia quarterfinal clash and into the semifinal. The match was held at the Allianz Stadium on Wednesday.
Juventus won the match
Juve claimed the trophy for four years in a row before it was knocked out by Atalanta at this stage last season. But this time the team appeared determined probably because of Maurizio Sarri, who built a strong team after his joining.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored the opening goal and Juve doubled their lead in 38th minute when Rodrigo Bentancur scored the second goal. But it wasn’t the end of scoring for Juve that looked rampant in the game. Finally, Leonardo Bonucci charged in the 45th minute and sealed the score with his goal. It was the third goal for Juve.
Roma fought back
It was only in the second half that Roma could make a comeback in the game. First, it was Cengiz Under that made a stunning attempt to open the score but hit the bar instead. But Gianluigi Buffron turned the score on with his goal in the 50th minute of the game.
