IPL 2020: Royal Challengers Bangalore To Get A New Name And Logo

Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is going to change its name ahead of Indian Premier League 2020 season. Their social media activity gave a hint regarding change of name before start of IPL 2020. An important announcement regarding change of name could be made on February 16.

On Tuesday, RCB removed pictures from Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts. Also, it changed the name to Royal Challengers. The Hindustan Times reported that RCB could come up with a new name and logo and an announcement regarding the same could be made on February 16.

Reason for change of name

According to reports, a faction of RCB fans wants to change Bangalore as it is the old name of Silicon Valley. After some discussions, the RCB agreed to change Bangalore to Bengaluru before the start of IPL 2020.

By far, RCB has been the most favoured team in IPL due to a star-studded line-up that includes Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers but it has yet to receive its first IPL trophy. Its performance has been super but it failed to meet expectations of its fans in the last 12 IPL seasons. For IPL 2020, RCB has associated with Muthoot Corp as its title sponsor.

Melania Trump Tweets To Thank Narendra Modi For His Invitation

US First Lady Melania Trump thanked PM Narendra Modi for inviting POTUS and her to visit India. She tweeted to thank Modi and said that she was excited about the grand welcome planned in India.

Donald Trump and Melania Trump are visiting India on February 24. It would be a two-day visit starting with a grand event in Ahmedabad in Modi’s home state Gujarat.

On February 24, Donald Trump would participate in a grand event similar to the “Howdy Modi” event in the US. Called “Kem Chho Trump”, the event would he held in a newly constructed Sardar Patel Stadium with a seating capacity of more than 1.10 lakh. Trump will inaugurate the stadium said to be bigger than the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Before the Kem Chho Trump event, Modi and Trump will do a roadshow along a 10-km decked-up stretch from the Ahmedabad airport to Sabarmati Ashram. Trump will also visit Sabarmati Ashram to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

Narendra Modi tweeted that India would accord a memorable welcome to the esteemed guests. He further said that the visit was very special one and that it would play a crucial role in cementing India-US ties in the long run.

2019 Pulwama Attack: Revising Pulwama On First Anniversary

On 14th February 2019, a vehicle-borne suicide bomber attacked a convoy of vehicles carrying security personnel in Lethpora in the Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir. Planned by a Pakistan-based Islamist group Jaish-e-Mohammed, the attack claimed lives 40 personnel of security forces.

Attack

Over 2,500 personnel from Central Reserve Police Force were traveling in a convoy of 78 vehicles from Jammu to Srinagar on the fateful day. They left their base in Jammu around 03:30 IST and they were expected to reach their destination in Srinagar before sunset. The National Highway 44 was shut for their movement two days before.

Whey the convoy reached Lethpora near Awantipora around 15:15 IST, a car carrying explosives rammed into a bus carrying security personnel of the 76th Battalion. The resulting blast left 40 CRPF personnel dead and as many injured that were quickly shifted to Srinagar base hospital for treatment.

Pakistan-based militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed took responsibility of the attack while releasing a video of the assailant who was a local 22-year boy from Kakapora. He was Adil Ahmad Dar and his family said that they hadn’t seen him since March 2018. They said that he left the home on bicycle and never turned back. But Pakistan denied any involvement in the attack.

Perpetrator

Adil Ahmad Dar alias Adil Ahmad GaadiTakranewala or Waqas Commando was reportedly arrested six times between September 2016 and March 2018, the day when he left his home. According to his family, he became radicalized after getting ill-treatment by Indian authorities. But he was released without any charges each time he was arrested.

US President Donald Trump said that he was willing to sign a trade pact with India during his visit to New Delhi on February 24 and 25. He is coming on the invitation of Narendra Modi and Modi assured that Trump’s visit would be a very special one in establishing the Indo-US friendship.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip: Second Foldable Phone By Samsung

On Tuesday, Samsung made a second attempt of selling phones with bendable screens and clamshell designs by unveiling Galaxy Z Flip, the latest design foldable phone. It would go on sale from Friday and the price could be $1,380.

The new Galaxy Z Flip can unfold upward into a traditional Smartphone from a small square device. Advantage of Z Flip is that it can stay open for different angles to allow taking pictures and watching videos. When closed, it will have only a small window for taking selfies and displaying notifications. The full screen of Z Flip is 6.7-inch diagonally.

The first foldable phone from Samsung was Galaxy Fold that went on sale last September with a price tag of nearly $2000 but got a weak response from the market. Galaxy Fold had vertical crease but the Z Flip comes with horizontal fold.

The all new Galaxy Z Flip has fibers that fill the gap between the hinge and the phone. But the Fold had nothing sort of this. Advantage of fiber is that it prevents the dust from accumulating in the hinges and interrupting their function. But it was a shortcoming of the Fold design.

Similarly, Motorola has also offered a foldable phone, Razr that would come with a cost of $1,500. The foldable phone design is an attempt by handset manufacturers to energize the market that is giving slow response to the new designs.

Udaan Becomes The Fourth-Valued Startup After Paytm, OYO And Byju’s

Bengaluru based online B2B e-commerce marketplace Udaan that is a little over three years old has become the fourth-highest valued startup in India. A recent valuation report filed by the firm on September 23, 2019 shows that the worth of the firm is $7.5 billion or Rs. 53,365.45 crore.

The report reads that the e-commerce company would reduce its losses to Rs. 375 crore in FY21. Also, that it would register a profit of Rs. 3,082 crore before tax in FY22. Following the report, the company convened a meeting to pass a special resolution to approve allotment of 4,02,641 Series E Compulsorily Convertible Preference Shares (CCPS) to its Singapore-based holding entity Trustroot Internet PTE.

History of Udaan

This development came when the company posted a loss of Rs. 780 crore during FY19 at a revenue of Rs. 46 crore. Founded by former Flipkart executives Amod Malviya, Sujeet Kumar and Vaibhav Gupta, it works as a platform where retailers can connect to wholesalers and traders. It is a horizontal marketplace that provides a wide range of goods from electronics to apparel and from grocery to fresh produce.

It also provides logistics service along with working capital loan to sellers on the platform. Udaan boasts of 20,000 sellers and 10 lack retailers from 900 cities and towns across country. It offers more than 15 lakh products that includes brands like SanDisk, Karbonn, boat and HP.

Samsung officially unveiled its range of S series 2020 flagship phones – Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy S20 Ultra. These flagships sport new 120Hz refresh rate displays.
