DMRC Seeks Rs. 1566.64 crore And Eight-Month Time To Start Free Ride To Women Service In Its Report

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation prepared two-point formula for implementing the ambitious free ride for women scheme of the Delhi government. 

In a detailed report sent to the Delhi government, DMRC sought annual funding to the tune of Rs. 1566.64 crore to provide fare exemption to women. DMRC is working on two options to fund the scheme.

First Option: Women commuters would get pink tokens but DMRC needs at least eight-month time to make necessary arrangements.

Second Option: DMRC would provide tokens and cards to women commuters and it requires one-year to start the free service.

The Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal opted for the pink tokens and asked DMRC to speed up the process to complete it in less than eight-month time. 

He said that DMRC only needed to arrange for pink tokens and re-open its ticket counters to start free ride for women commuters. And it shouldn’t take much time, maintained the Chief Minister.

The DMRC would also require permission of fare fixation committee to start the service. But the approval is only a formality and there is no apprehension of the fare-fixation committee blocking the scheme. 

Formed by the central government, the fixation committee looks into the fare-related decision of the DMRC. Headed by a serving or retired high-court judge, the committee includes chief secretary of the Delhi government and representatives of the Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry. The DMRC had four fare-fixation committees since its inception in 1995.

The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has sought subsidy it its proposal to provide free ride to women commuters. Presently DTC runs 3,900 buses on different routes.

Cyclone Vayu: The Home Ministry Reviewing The Crisis Management

26 NDRF teams comprising 45 personnel each equipped with boats, tree-cutters and telecom equipment have been deployed in Gujrat and another 10 teams of NDRF preparing to leave on the request of Gujrat government.

In the meantime, Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the preparations for cyclone Vayu that is about to arrive in Gujrat on June 13. The Home Minister directed the officials to ensure quick restoration of essential services including power, telecommunication, drinking water and healthcare, if any of these services are affected by the cyclone.

Also, the Coast Guard, the Navy, the Army and the Air Force have been asked to keep one unit each ready for deployment to carry out surveillance and rescue work in cyclone hit areas.

Cyclone Vayu

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, Cyclone Vayu could storm the Gujrat coast at a speed of 135 kmph. Areas form Gujrat cost to Porbandar and Mahuva around Veraval and Diu region are expected to get landfill by the cyclone.

The Home Ministry is also in touch with the government of Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Daman and Diu that could get affected by the cyclone.

36 New MPs Will Get Luxury Duplex Flats InNorth Avenue

36 of the 17th Lok Sabha Members would get newly built four-bedroom duplex flats in North Avenue in Lutyens’ Delhi. The Central Public Works Department is expected to handover the new apartments to the Lok Sabha Secretariat by June-end.

Constructed at a cost of ₹80 crore, each flat comes complete with a fully-fitted modular kitchen and a well-furnished office area. These low-rise flats are equipped with solar panels; have LED lights; basement parking for two cars and other modern amenities. But the biggest feature is they give a panoramic view of the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Construction started with the demolition of the old flats in October 2017 and the sanctioned cost of the flats was ₹92 crore.

According to government official, old buildings in South and North Avenues would be demolished to pave way for new flats in a phased manner. The government has arranged temporary accommodations for 350 MPs till the MPs get their official residences. In the past, the government used to accommodate the MPs in five-star hotels. But the tradition has been discontinued.

The MPs-elect waiting for accommodation include ex-cricketer Gautam Gambhir, Union Ministers Ravi Shankar Prasad and Smriti Irani, Sufi singer Hans Raj Hans and Bengali actors Mimi Chakraborty and Nusrat Jahan Ruhi.

Sensitive Details About Amitabh Bachchan Hack Bled Through The Dark Web

Hours after hacking the Twitter account of Amitabh Bachchan @SrBachchan, a chatter on the dark web claimed responsibility for the act. A Middle Easter hacker who claimed responsibility for hacking of @SrBachchan account was widely lauded throughout the night.

Special Inspector General of Police Brijesh Singh (Maharashtra Cyber) said that they observed the dark web and found certain elements boasting about the hack. The hackers also shared sensitive details about @SrBachchan account, said the Inspector General.

But the police restored @SrBachchan account to its original position with the help of Twitter authorities.

Another account hacked

Another incident of Twitter account hacking surfaced on Tuesday afternoon. The same culprit is believed to have hacked the Twitter account of singer Adnan Sami. His picture was also replaced with that of Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and a tweet posted.

Thumb Injury Sends Shikhar Dhawan Out Of World Cup 2019

Shikhar Dhawan injured his thump while playing against Australia in the previous match at The Oval on Sunday. He did a huge job making 117 off 109 balls despite his injury but didn’t field at all during Australia’s batting.

Hairline fracture

Shikhar Dhawan was on 24 in the 9th over of the match when a bouncer by Nathan Coulter hit him on the left thumb. The hit was so hard that it fractured his thumb but Dhawan kept playing and scored a century for the team. Lately he was seen treating his injured thumb with an ice pack in the rest room.

Though Dhawan’s century put India at a winning position but it costed the team dearly. Shikhar Dhawan is diagnosed with a hairline fracture on the left-hand thumb and he’s advised rest for three weeks. Dhawan also didn’t travel to Nottingham where India would take on New Zealand on Thursday.

Replacement for team India

Team India is now allowed to find a replacement for its star player Shikhar Dhawan. And the names doing round for his replacement are of Rishabh Pant, Ambati Rayudu and Shreyas Iyer.

In the absence of Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul could come for opening but India has to find a replacement to send at no. 4 position that would become vacant with KL Rahul moving to no. 1 position.
