Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit extended his greetings for Ayudha Pooja to countrymen. Also, the Chief Minister K Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam extended their greetings for Ayudha Pooja on the eve of the festival of Viajaydasami started on Monday.

NEET Would Be The Single National Entrance Test For Medical Colleges In 2020

NEET or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test will be the only entrance test for medical admission from 2020 announced Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan. NEET has already replaced the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT).The announcement was made under enactment of National Medical Commission Act.

What is National Medical Commission Act?

The act creates a single entrance test for all the undergraduate MBBS admissions. Also, there will be single counselling window for all India admission. In addition to this, there will be state-level counselling committees for the seats that comes under state quota.

What is NEET?

It is an eligibility test for medical admissions and it is applicable to all medical colleges except All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Jawaharlal Institute of Post-Graduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER). AIIMS MBBS test is conducted for more than 10 AIIMS colleges across India and JIPMER MBBS counselling is done for admission in Puducherry-based medical college.

Last year data shows that only 15 students appeared in NEET while the number of students in AIIMS MBBS and JIPMER MBBS was 2 lakh and 1.4 lakh respectively.

IRCTC’s IPO Opens With 10% Initial Discount On September 30

The state-owned Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is planning to offer an Initial Public Offering (IPO) at Rs. 315-320 per share. But IRCTC is offering 10% discount to retail investors and eligible employees. They can buy shares at Rs. 305-310.

  • Government expects to raise around Rs. 628-638 crore with IPO
  • It comprises of an offer for sale of 2 crore shares
  • It represents 12.50% of total paid-up equity by the Ministry of Railways
  • Addition of employee reservation portion of 1.6 lack shares increases the total paid-up equity to12.6%
  • Issues and all proceeds from the IPO will go the selling shareholder
  • The minimum lot is 40 equity share

IRCTC’s IPO is expected to be launched on October 9 and the shared would be listed in both NSE and BSE on October 14. The biggest factor in the IPO is that IRCTC won’t receive any proceeds from the offer.
