Indo-US relations touched a new high on Tuesday when the US State Department spokesperson Ned Price termed India “one of the most important partners in the Indo-Pacific region”.
What did US say about its relations with India?
The Biden administration said that the US welcomes India’s emergence as a global power. Also, that it recognized India’s role as a net security provider in the region.
Ned Price further highlighted the Indo-US relations by saying that both the countries cooperate on a wide range of issues related to defense, non-proliferation, regional cooperation in the region, counter-terrorism, peacekeeping, environment, health, education, technology, agriculture, space and oceans. Price said that the list of areas is exhaustive.
US on India’s tenure at UNSC
The Biden administration said that the US welcomed India’s tenure at the security council as a non-permanent member. Price said that the US remained the highest trading partner of India in 2019 when the total bilateral trade of the both the countries touched USD 146 billion mark.
