AAP

The AamAadmi Party unseated Congress by decimating it in 2015 assembly elections. Congress had ruled Delhi for 15 years but today it is nowhere to be seen in the elections. Right from the beginning of elections, the party showed a lackluster attitude towards Delhi. For example, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi had had hardly campaigned for their candidates in Delhi.

BJP

Riding high over Modi’s popularity, policies and achievements, the party wants to return to power with a huge mandate. And it used all its machinery that it can to highlight Modi’s policies and seek votes in the name of Modi government. Sometimes the party crossed the line while attacking AAP candidates.

BJP Follows AAP To Win 2020 Delhi Election

Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is following the footsteps of AamAadmi Party (AAP) in coming New Delhi elections. BJP that was accusing AAP of freeism and populism is itself promising freebies, if voted to power. The poor are promised Rs. 2 a kg flour, free electric scooty to poor students and free cycles.

AAP looks further than half electricity and water

In 2015 elections, AAP promised free electricity and Wi-Fi and got great majority. It is learnt that the promise of free services played a crucial role in AAP’s winning those elections. Soon after winning elections, the AAP government started fulfilling its poll-promises one-by-one. AAP also gave free journey in DTC buses and promised free tide in metro to women.

BJP will defeat AAP with latter’s weapon

Cricketer turned politician Gautam Gambhir said that he didn’t believe in giving things for free while attacking the AAP last October. But today his party is treading the same path for which they accused AAP and Kejriwal. 2017 MCD elections and 2017 general elections have been encouraging for BJP.

AAP couldn’t perform in elections after 2015 even after giving free electricity up to 200 units, free water and free treatment in government run hospitals. AAP couldn’t show up in 2017 MCD elections even after winning 67 out of 70 seats in 2015 Delhi elections.

BJP election manifesto for 2020 Delhi elections

This time BJP is offering cheap flour, Rs. 2 lakh to first two girl child of poor families, free electric scooty and employment to 10 lakh unemployed in 5 years.

European Union Passes Six Resolutions Against CAA And Kashmir Ahead of PM Modi’s Visit

EU backlash on CAA and J&K

EU parliament had six resolutions by 626 from 751 members on the CAA and J&K. But their bigger concern was CAA as they are of the opinion that the controversial citizenship law could create the largest statelessness crisis in the world. But the Indian government refuted the resolutions by calling both the issues as internal matters of the country. Also, the government assured that acts were adopted with due process of the law.

EU groups that moved the resolutions

  1. Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats
  2. The European People’s Party (Christian Democrats)
  3. European United Left and Nordic Green Left
  4. Greens/European Free Alliance
  5. Conservatives and Reformists
  6. The Renew Europe Group

While the first group denounced the fact that India had incorporated religious criteria into its naturalization and refugee policies, the second group expressed its concern over negative image of internal stability in India due to CAA consequences.

India’s reaction to the resolutions

India took exception to the move saying that the issues were entirely internal to the country. And the government displayed hope that those backing India would engage with the government to assess the facts related to the said issues before proceeding any further.
