Delhi: Seelampur Tense But Under Control; Former Congress MLA Accused In JMI Violence

Peaceful procession against Citizenship (Amendment) Bill turned violent in Seelampur area in Delhi on Tuesday. According to reports, there were around 1,000 protestors in the procession when it took a violent turn by burning a school bus and a police station. Two police booths are also damaged.

Seelampur incident

Joint Commissioner of Delhi Alok Kumar said that people protesting peacefully at the Seelampur t-point suddenly started stoning. Also, they clashed with the police party present to manage the procession. And police had to use mild lathicharge and fire tear gas shells to disperse the violent crowd.

The incident resulted in injury to 21 people out of which 12 belong to Delhi Police and 3 to Rapid Action Force. The police have detained 5 people for the incident. The Joint Commission said that the situation was brought under control by appealing to the violent crowd from masjids and madarsas. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has also appealed to maintain peace in the city.

FIR against former Congress MLA

Delhi police have registered a FIR against the former Congress MLA, Asif Khan in connection with the Jamia Millia Islamia incident. In another development, Saket court sent the 14 people arrested by police in JMI case to judicial custody for 14 days.

Leaders of opposition parties met the President Ram Nath Kovind under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi. The Congress president complaint about the Modi government’s efforts to suppress peace opposition to the President. She further said that people’s voice can’t be suppressed in democracy.

Live News Updates: Fire In A Delhi Home Leaves 43 People Dead; Unnao Rape Victim Cremated After Assurance Of Justice

Fire broke out in a home in Delhi kills 43 people

43 people died in a fire broke in a home in Anaj Mandi on Rani Jhansi Road. It happened on the small hours of Sunday 8th December but people came to know about the fire at 05:22 AM after which the fire brigade was called. 30 fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the fire. The firemen controlled the flames and rescued 50 people. The injured persons were sent to Lok Nayak Hospital for treatment. The rescue work was still going on at the time writing the news.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee gave her condolences for the people burnt in Delhi fire. She tweeted that she felt sad about the death and pray for the quick recovery of those injured in the incident.

Unnao rape and murder victim cremated on Sunday

Sister of Unnao rape victim said that they won’t cremate the victim until CM Adityanath Yogi came to meet them. She maintained that she wanted to talk to CM Yogi. She asked for a government job for herself and death penalty for the accused. But the family of the victim agreed to create the victim after the Lucknow commissioner and senior police officers assured them of justice. The victim was cremated on Sunday 8th December.

SP chief Akhilesh Yadav sat on protest outside the assembly a day before on 7th December. He said that justice couldn’t be delivered until CM, state home secretary and DGP resigned. He also said that SP would organize condolence meet in every district.

Hyderabad Encounter Was The Second Encounter Of 1996-Batch IPS VC Sajjnar

VC Sajjanar, the police officer who played a key role in the killing of all the four accused of raping and killing a veterinary doctor in Hyderabad, is a 1996-batch IPS officer. And this is the second time that he executed an encounter of accused of crime against women.

The first encounter by VC Sajjanar

It was in 2008, when VC Sajjanar first came in news for an encounter of three accused of murdering a woman in an acid attack in Warangal. VC Sajjanar as Superintendent of Police in Warangal directed a team of investigators to take the accused – Srinivas Rao, P Hari Krishna and B Sanjay – to crime scene for recreation of the crime. But the accused tried to snatch the guns from the policemen, who had to open fire in self-defense. It resulted in killing of the accused and it happened in the small hours. This incident made Sajjanar a hero and a household name in Warangal.

The second encounter by VC Sajjanar

VC Sajjanar was investing the gory rape and murder of a veterinary doctor in Hyderabad. In the small hours of 6th December 2019, he sent his team to recreate the crime scene with the accused – Mohammed Areef, Shiva, Naveen and Chennakesavulu – who tried to flee in the dark but shot dead by the police in self-defense.

The Hyderabad killing was hailed across the country as a heroic deed and justice delivered at the same place where the victim was raped, killed and burnt. Bot his encounters are similar and he game similar reasons for killing the accused.

Accused Of Priyanka Reddy Rape And Murder Were Shot By Police In An Encounter

Hyderabad police have claimed to shot all the four accused in the rape and murder of a veterinarian doctor dead in the small hours of 6th December. According to police, the accused were taken to the crime scene for recreation of the crime. But the accused tried to flee from the site leading to firing from the police personnel and death of the accused.

Mohammad Areef, Jollu Shiva, Jollu Naveen, and ChintakuntaChennakeshavulu. Mohammad Areef were arrested on the charges of rape and murder of 26-year old veterinarian doctor in Shadnagar area of Hyderabad. They were being taken to the crime scene to the place where they burnt victim’s body. While the police were busy creating the crime scene, the accused tried to flee.

Shot dead in encounter

The police tried to stop the accused from fleeing that resulted in encounter of the accused and immediate death. Police commissioner confirmed that the accused were shot in an encounter. He further said that the people were demanding death penalty for the accused and the police were working hard to close the case in a fast track court.

Parents of victim thanked the police

Victim’s parents said that the encounter of the accused would give solace to the departed soul and that they had got justice with shooting of the accused at the crime scene.

Today’s Google Doodle on Children’s Day is drawn by the winner of the 2019 competition in India. She’s Divyanshi Singhal, a student in Gurgaon. Her design “Walking Trees” was taken as message for protecting the next generation from deforestation.

The World Celebrates 550th Birth Anniversary Of Guru Nanak Dev Ji On 12th November

Guru Nanak Jayanti is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first Guru of Sikhism. Celebrated as Guru Parv, Gurupurab or Guru Prakash Parv, it falls on a full moon day in Kartik Puranmashi.

Celebration of Guru Nanak Jayanti

It is three-day celebration that starts two days prior to the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. It starts with akhand path that is recitation of the holy book of Sikhism and conclude with people offering their prayers in Gurudwaras.

First Day

Akhand Path of Guru Granth Sahib is held in Gurudwaras. It is a 48-hour path or uninterrupted recitation of the preaching of Sikh Gurus.

Second Day

Nagarkirtan is organized. It is a procession led by PanjPyaras. It carries Nishan Sahib, the Sikh flag, and the Palanquin of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. But the main attractions of the Nagarkirtan are various singers singing and dancing to the tunes of brass bands.

Third Day

On the concluding day, people visit Gurudwars and listen to the sacred hymns recited by priests. Lungar or community lunch is served to the visitors. Also, the visitors enjoy “Gatka”that is a form of martial art. It is performed with sword.

Born on 15 April, 1469 at Rai Bhoeki Talwandi, Punjab, Guru Nanak Dev Ji travelled across South Asia and the Middle East to spread his teachings that are immortalized in the form of 974 hymns in the Guru Granth Sahib.
