Cyclone Nisarga Approaching Mumbai At 120 KMPH

Mumbai the financial capital of India is bracing for a cyclone in over 100 years. It was a tropical cyclone named Nisarga but it intensified into a “super cyclonic storm” today morning.

  1. Cyclone Nisarga will make landfall about 100 km from Mumbai near Alibaug. Its wind speed could be up to 110 km/hour gusting up to 120 km/hour.
  2. In Maharashtra, more than 19,000 people have been moved to safe places. CM Udbhav Thackeray has appealed people to stay indoors.
  3. The eye of the storm is visible in the Dopplers Weather Radars (DWR) that are tracking the storm in Mumbai and Goa. The diameter of the eye is 65 km.
  4. Mumbai police has banned human movement along the coastline since last night.
  5. Directorate General of Civil Aviation cautioned airlines against operating in cyclonic conditions.
  6. A storm surge of up to 6.5 meters high will inundate the low-lying areas of Mumbai, Thane and Raigad districts.
  7. Over 30 National Disaster Response Force teams have been deployed at sensitive areas to conduct rescue operations.
  8. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took stock of the situation and payed for the well being of all.
  9. Indian Coast Guard Ships and planes have been warning fishermen to return to harbour before cyclone sets in.
  10. It is second cyclone to strike India’s coastline in less than two weeks. Earlier Cyclone Amphan made landfall in West Bengal and Orissa. It killed 100 people and displaced millions.

Wajid Khan Of Sajid-Wajid Passed Away At 42

Singer composer Wajid Khan of famous Sajid-Wajid duo passed away in Mumbai. The 42-year old singer was hospitalized with a kidney problem a few days ago in Surana Hospital in Chembur suburb and he breathed his last on Sunday. But there are conflicting claims about his death.

Death due to natural reasons

According to music director Salim Merchant, Wajid Khan had multiple health issues. He had kidney transplant a year ago and recently got infection in the kidney. Merchant said that Khan was on ventilator on the last days as his condition deteriorated during treatment.

The entertainment website Bollywood Hungama claimed that Wajid Khan died due to COVID-19. A noted journalist from the website tweeted that singer Sonu Nigam confirmed the demise of Wajid Khan and that Khan was suffering from novel coronavirus infection.

GSEB Could Declare SSC Result In Second Week Of June 2020

GSEB SSC Result 2020 for 10th Class could be declared by the second week of June 2020. The result has been delayed due to nationwide lockdown to stem the tide of coronavirus but the Gujarat Board hasn’t announced any official date for result declaration.

Delaying of result is causing stress among students as their academic life has come to a halt for want of results. But they should rest assured that the whenever the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) declares results, it will use its official website gseb.org for result publication.

Also, students are advised to stay safe from rumors and fake news regarding their results. They should stay connected to news on GSEB to know when the result will be declared. But the GSEB is yet to confirm result declaration in June 2020.

Usually GSEB declares Class 10th results in the third week of May. Last year, SSC 10th Class result was declared on May 21, 2019 and the students were hopeful of getting the result same time in 2020. Also, the declaration of 12th Class Science stream result on May 17, 2020 gave hopes to 10th Class students. But their result was delayed due to lockdown.

RBI Made 5 Important Announcements Today

In a surprise move, the RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das reduced the repo rate from 4.4% to 4%. Also, the moratorium on banks was extended by another three months due to the extended lockdown. It was his address to media after the government announced 20.97 lakh crore stimulus to the economy.

Highlights of RBI’s announcements

• Monetary Policy Committee of RBI decided the repo rate to 4% from the existing 4.4%. It is the lowest repo rate since 2000. The central bank also sliced the reversed repo rate to 3.35% from the existing 3.75%.

RBI extended the loan moratorium for another three months period starting from June 1 to August 1. This move is expected to bring relief to the working class whose income is badly hit by the pandemic.

• Governor Shaktikanta Das projected the gross domestic product (GDP) to shrink in the current financial year. The disruption of economic activities is the reason behind low GDP. But the governor expressed confidence that the economy would be revived by the second half of the financial year ending March 31, 2021.

• The Export-Import Bank of India is allocated Rs. 15,000 crore to support trade activities. The EXIM Bank provides financial assistance to exporters and importers.

• SIDBI is given another 90-days for the 90-day term loan facilities. It is done in order to provide liquidity to the MSME sector that has been badly hit by the coronavirus pandemic.

Remembering Rajiv Gandhi On His 29th Death Anniversary

March 21 is the death anniversary of former prime minister and Congress leader Rajiv Gandhi. He was assassinated on March 21, 1991 by LTTE during an election campaign. Today is his twenty-ninth death anniversary.

PM Modi paid tributes to the former prime minister. Also, the nation remembers the sacrifice Rajiv Gandhi did for the country. A Bharat Ratna recipient, Rajiv Gandhi was born on August 20, 1944 to Indira Gandhi and Feroze Gandhi in Bombay but he remained apolitical for most part of his life.

People remember Rajiv Gandhi by revisiting the life of the former prime minister

Rajiv Gandhi was the sixth prime minister of the country. He assumed office after the death of his mother and former prime minister Indira Gandhi. He remained in office from 1984 to 1989. Also, he was the youngest to become prime minister in India. He also served as a Congress general secretary before becoming prime minister.

He studied in United Kingdom and was a trained pilot. Before joining politics, he was working as a pilot with national carrier Indian Airlines. His first stint in politics was after the accident of his younger brother Sanjay Gandhi. He won the Amethi Parliamentary constituency represented by his brother.

Rajiv Gandhi married Sonia Gandhi in 1968. Sonia Gandhi is the president of the Congress party. The couple have to children – Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

Sonia Gandhi took charge of the Congress after the death of her husband the then Congress president Rajiv Gandhi. She is also chairperson of UPA.

BSEB To Declare Matriculation Result Today On Its Website

Bihar State Examination Board (BSEB) is likely to announce result of Bihar Board Class 10 (Matriculation) exams 2020 on May 20. The result will be released on biharboardonline.bihar.gov.in and onlinebseb.in.

The board is in the process of completing the verification of toppers and almost half of the work is complete. The result will be out as soon as all the toppers are verified. The results that were scheduled to be released in March end were put on hold due to the nationwide lockdown imposed by the central government in order to stem the tide of coronavirus infection.
Students can check official website of BSEB for results. Also, they can find results on sites like indiaresults.com and examresults.net.

Check BSEB Matriculation result

Students can view their results in the BSEB official website by entering their Roll No in the result window. And they are advised to download their results for future reference.

According to BSEB, 15 lack 29 thousand and 393 appeared in the Board exams held in February 2020. The exams were conducted between February 17 to 24 at 1368 centers across the state. Last year, the result of the Matriculation exams was declared on April 6, 2019. The over pass percentage of 2019 was 80.73%.
