PM Modi chose March 22 to launch the first-ever river-linking project as a mark of celebration of World Water Day and to show his solidarity with the theme of World Water Day 2021. The theme is to “support the achievement of sustainable development goal (SDG) 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030” and river-linking is the first big step towards this direction.
