How Burnley Denied Even A Single Goal To Liverpool?

Liverpool faced stunning defeat at the hands of Burnley when Ashley Barnes scored a goal at the 83rd minute into the game. It was a foul from Alisson that resulted into a penalty stroke that Barnes turned into a goal for Burnley and won the league match. But it was more a problem with Liverpool than advantage for Burnley.

Difficulties for Liverpool

After seeing his team struggle, Klopp was expected to add Xherdan Shaqiri and Origi in place of Salah and Firmino to bring speed in the game and allow the team to be more aggressive in their attack. And Klopp justified his decision by giving the excuse that since the club has a hectic schedule, it becomes necessary to keep changing the players. It is to be noted that Liverpool is playing every three day but it got nine days for the Sunday match with Manchester United that was a 0-0 draw.

Burnley’s master stroke

The Clarets are good at frustrating their opponents and this they demonstrated in the game. Throughout the game, they kept the Reds running for ball in a maze and never allowed them to get close hits. All the Reds could do is to try long range shots at the goal and those attempts were foiled by the Burnley.

Notable performances

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ruled the ground in the midfield despite his knee injury. He’s still recovering from the injury. Also, Nick Pope did a fairly well job by denying Liverpool goals. It was his heroic deed that kept the Reds guessing for the right place for striking a goal.
