Summer vacations were scheduled from May 11 to June 3 but they were changed from April 20 to June 9 by a Delhi government circular. The decision to reschedule the vacations was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by senior government officials.

The circular read that the government took the decision to reschedule summer vacations during Academic Session 2021-22 in view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation. According to the Directorate of Education (DoE), the new time for summer vacation will be from April 20 to June 9.

The circular allows schools to call vacation staff for necessary school-related work but the government wants all the staff to follow COVID-appropriate behavior. Standard Operating Procedures have been laid for schools and the government wants strict adherence to the SoP.

Six-day lockdown announced in Delhi

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced a short six-day lockdown starting Monday night from 10 pm to 5 am next Monday. The decision to impose a lockdown was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by CM Kejriwal where he said that a lockdown was necessary to break the chain of infection.
