Rhea Chakraborty And Showik Are Made Accused In 61,700 Pages Charge Sheet In SSR Case

The Narcotics Control Bureau named 33 persons including Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik as accused in its voluminous charge sheet in Sushant Singh Rajput death case. The charge sheet contains 61,700-plus pages out of which 11,700 pages were in physical and the remaining 50,000 were in digital.

What is in the charge sheet?

NCB Special Public Prosecutor Atul Sarpande said that charge sheet contained statements of 161 witnesses but the agency could add statements from more witnesses according to development in the case. He further said that investigations against known and unknown persons were going on at the time of filing the charge sheet.

The charge sheet read that NCB seized various narcotics drugs and psychotropic substances, electronic gadgets, and currency both Indian and foreign from the accused. The agency also analyzed the mobile phones to access crucial information regarding sale, purchase, procurement, possession and consumption of narcotics drugs. Also, the narcotics seized were sent for chemical examination.

How did Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case begin?

It all started with seizure of 46gm marijuana from one Abbas Ali Lakhani August-end last year and the trail led to more arrests including that of Rhea’s brother Showik and Rhea Chakraborty later on. They both applied for bail but their pleas weren’t heard by the court. But Rhea managed to secure a bail from Bombay High Court. Showik also got bail from the special court but after languishing for three months in the jail. Presently only eight accused of the case are in jail.
