Donald Trump Said India Has Religious Freedom And That CAA Is Up To India

The US President Donald Trump said that Narendra Modi wanted people to have religious freedom. He was speaking to the media about the violence in parts of Delhi over contentious citizenship law.

He said that he didn’t discuss individual attacks and those were up to India. He further said that they talked about religious freedom and that Prime Narendra Modi had worked very hard to have people great and open religious freedom. He also said that India had really worked hard on religious freedom.

On CAA, Donal Trump said that he didn’t want to say anything about CAA and that it was up to India. He hoped that India will take right decision for its people.

Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said that the CAA didn’t come up between Mr. Modi and Mr. Trump but both the leaders discussed religious freedom in a very positive way.

Pro-CAA Group Clashes With Anti-CAA Protestors In Delhi

On Sunday, a pro-CAA group led by local BJP leader Kapil Mishra clashed with another group protesting against CAA in northeast Delhi’s Maujpur. But the situation was brought under control by the police.

A group of protestors were sitting on a road near Jaffrabad since Saturday and the process to disperse the protest were going on. On Sunday noon, Kapil Mishra came out with his supporters and asked police to disperse the anti-CAA protestors else he would hit the streets to disperse the crowd.

Anti-CAA protestors clashed with police

The group protesting against the CAA clashed with police when the latter tried to disperse the crowd. In the clash, a portion of a shop in the area was burnt; a police vehicle vandalized and police officers injured. Similar clashes took place in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh.

Delhi L-G Asks For Making Necessary Arrangements For Security Of Protestors And Voters At Shaheen Bagh

The Lt. Governor asked police to boost security around Shaheen Bagh area after a man fired two rounds in air at the protestors. The police would put up more barricades to prevent outsiders from creating trouble at the protest site.

Since December 15, hundreds of people including men and women have been staging a sit-in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) at the Shaheen Bagh.

But the protest came into news when a man brandished a pistol to the protestors and fired two rounds in air. The police present at the site swung into action and apprehended the shooter.

Enhanced security for Shaheen Bagh protestors

The police have been asked to keep a close watch over the people visiting the Shaheen Bagh area. There would be barricades to prevent people from approaching the protest site and those that want to visit the site would be frisked. Also, the police would take help of locals to prevent any untoward incident from happening. The securing arrangements have been enhanced in the wake of Delhi elections on February 8.
