Sundar Pichai Asked Students To Be Patient

Google CEO Sundar Pichai gave a special message to the graduating class of 2020 from his backyard. He was speaking to the students during YouTube’s Dear Class of 2020 virtual ceremony.

Be open, be impatient and be hopeful was his message to students. He even recalled his humble roots to highlight the importance of staying calm in difficult times. Sunder Pichai, 47, recalled the challenges he faced when he came to US to pursue his studies at Stanford University.

He said that his father spent his entire salary to buy his plane ticket to the US so that he could attend Stanford. And that was his first time on a plane. He said that America was expensive. A phone call back home was more than $2 a minute and going anywhere would be equal to his dad’s monthly salary.

Also, he drew comparison between how he grew up without much access to technology and said that students of the present time have access to computers of all shapes and sizes. He remembered that he had his first telephone at home when he was 10 and his first television had only one channel at that time.

Sundar Pichai’s career in Google

He grew up in Chennai and came to the US for higher studies and join Google as a material engineer as a management executive in 2004. Soon he became the product chief and the CEO in 2015.
