All Exams In The Country Postponed Till March 31

The educational ministry asked all educational institutions including Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to postpone all exams till March 31 in view of coronavirus outbreak.

HRD secretary Amit Khare, in an official communication, said that the while maintenance of academic calendar and exam schedule was important, equally important was safety and security of students that were appearing in various exams as also of their teachers and parents.

Exams postponed

The order applies to CBSE-affiliated schools that are conducting tests of 10 and 12 classes; National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), University Grants Commission (UGC), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) and all autonomous organisations under the education ministry.

But the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (ICSE) is allowed to conduct board exams for 10 and 12 classes.

The announcement of postponement of exams was made amid the increasing number of coronavirus cases in India. It was the latest in the curbs put across the country to contain spread of COVID-19.

Fresh coronavirus cases reported

There were only 14 coronavirus cases reported since Tuesday but what is more worrisome is that the Indian Army also reported a coronavirus case. The armed forces have decided to strengthen their measures to check spread of COVID-19.

The soldiers coming from home will be checked for flu-like symptoms. Also, non-essential leaves of soldiers including leaves for conferences are cancelled till further order. Meanwhile the Human Resource Development Ministry announced to hold e-classes on Swayam Prabha DTH channels for school students.

PM Modi’s Will Address The Nation On COVID-19 Outbreak

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will discuss the coronavirus outbreak and the steps taken to combat its further spread during his address to the nation at 8 pm today. He took the decision after chairing a high-level meeting to review the efforts to contain COVID-19.

Result of the meeting

The government is seriously considering involving private laboratories in its efforts. The Health Ministry said that the situation was evolving and that the government was ready for every eventuality.

Indian Council for Medical Research (ICRM) is the nodal agency responsible for monitoring the preparedness for battling COVID-19. It has been directed to look for ways to involve private laboratories for boosting testing facilities.

Also, the government is trying to spread awareness in public and educate them about advantages social distancing in fighting with coronavirus. It is the only way of breaking the viral chain of transmission.

SBI Cards IPO Allotment And Refund To Be Done On March 13 And March 12 Respectively

India Suspends All Visas For A Month Over Coronavirus Scare

The government suspends all Indian visas in the wake of spread of coronavirus spread in the country and the World Health Organization declaring it a pandemic. All existing visas — except diplomatic, official, UN/International organisations, employment and project visas — will be suspended till April 15.

The visa suspension will come into effect from 1200 GMT on 13th March 2020 at the port of departure. Earlier the visa facility was partially suspended from the COVID-19 nations.

• International traffic through land borders will be directed to designated check posts with robust screening facility.

• The Maharashtra government has banned ticket sale for IPL 2020 opening match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings in the wake of rising coronavirus cases.

Court Allows Megan Thee Stallion To Release Music

Megan Thee Stallion said that she was a little worried when she almost couldn’t release her new album due to a dispute with her record label. She was talking to the Associated Press after a Houston judge ordered the Friday release of her album.

Also, the judge scheduled hearing on her request for a temporary injunction against the label on March 13.

Daughter Of Yes Bank Founder Arrested At Mumbai Airport

Roshni Kapoor, daughter of Yes Bank founder Rana Kapoor, was apprehended at the Mumbai airport while she’s boarding a flight to London. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has already issued a lookout notice against her and other family members of Rana Kapoor.

Rana Kapoor arrested

On Sunday, the Yes Bank founder was arrested and sent to the custody of ED till March 11 by a Mumbai court. He was arrested on the charges of money laundering after hours of investigation and searches at the residents of his daughters – Roshni Kapoor, Rakhee Kapoor Tandon, and Radha Kapoor – inDelhi and Mumbai.

Allegations on Rana Kapoor

In the court, the ED lawyer Sunil Gonsalves alleged that Yes Bank had bought debentures of Dewan Housing and Finance Ltd. worth Rs. 3,700 crore. Dewan Housing had granted a loan of Rs. 600 crore to Doit, a company owned by daughters of Rana Kapoor.

The lawyer further alleged that crime of Yes Bank was amounted to Rs. 4,300 crore. Also, that Rana Kapoor had refused to cooperate with the investigation.

Rana Kapoor denied allegations

Zain Shroff, lawyer of Rana Kapoor, argued in the court that Kapoor was made a scapegoat due to public outrage against Yes Bank after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) took action against the bank.

RBI took control of Yes Bank placed it under a moratorium. Also, it put a withdrawal limit of Rs. 50,000 on Yes Bank. RBI is working the revival of Yes Bank. In the meantime, SBI said that it would buy a 49% stake in the beleaguered bank.

Amit Panghal Is The First Indian Boxer To Enter Men’s World Championships Final

Amit Panghal created history by entering the final round of men’s World Championships in Ekaterinburg, Russia. He defeated Kazakhstan’s SakenBibbisinov by split decision (3-2) in the semi-final of the flyweight (48kg-52kg) division.

Amit Panghal will take on ShakhobidinZoirov of Uzbekistan. He has been Rio Olympic champion in 52 kg category and has defeated BillalBennama of France in the semifinal category. It is the first time when Panghal will meet Zoirov.

Bronze medal for India

In another match, Manish Kaushik settled for a bronze medal after losing the game the reigning world champion, Andy Gomez Cruz of Cuba. He lost the lightweight (57kg-63kg) match by unanimous decision (5-0).

But both the boxers have qualified for the upcoming Olympic qualifier in Wuhan, China. The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) has already announced that boxers with medals at the Worlds will be automatic choice for Olympic qualifiers.

Amit Panghal and Manish Kaushik gave India immense hope as the country had never won more than a single bronze in the previous tournaments. With his bronze, Manish Kaushik became the fifth Indian boxer after Vijender Singh (2009), Vikas Krishan (2011), Shiva Thapa (2015) and Gaurav Biduri (2017) wo win a bronze. It was the first appearance of Manish Kaushik at the Worlds but Amit Panghal was a quarter finalist in the previous edition of (2017).
