A heart attack is a medical emergency that can happen anytime but it is more dangerous, if it goes unrecognized. It is called “Silent Heart Attack’ and it could be more fatal, if you fail to notice the signs.

Also known as Silent Myocardial Infraction (SMI), it accounts for 45% of total heart attacks in the world but what is more surprising is that it affects more women than men. And it is directly related to high blood pressure.

90/60mmHG and 120/80mmHG is considered normal range of blood pressure and anything above 140/90mmHg is high blood pressure. A recent survey in Rajasthan revealed startling details – 7% women against 12% men between 15-49 years suffer from high blood pressure.

But these people don’t have any underlying condition like diabetes, obesity, tobacco consumption and cholesterol buildup. And these people have more chances of getting silent heart attack that could go unnoticed.

  • Discomfort in upper body including arms, neck, back, jaw and stomach
  • Shortness of breath
