What Is The Deal Between Tata Motors And Ford Motors?

Tata Motors buy Ford Motors

Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd (TPEML), a subsidiary of Tata Motors, signed a deal with Ford India Pvt Ltd (FIPL) to buy its manufacturing plant in Sanand, Gujarat. The Rs 726 crore deal includes land, assets, and all eligible employees.

What Is The Importance Of The Deal For Tata Motors?

Tata Motors released a statement soon after the deal. The Indian automobile giant said that with its manufacturing capacity nearing saturation, the acquisition was timely and a win-win situation for all stakeholders. The Jaguar Land Rover parent further said that the Sanand plant will boost its manufacturing capacity from 300,000 units per year to 420,000.

Why Is Ford Motors Selling Its Sanand Plant?

Ford India had been struggling to increase its sales and profit for more than two decades. But it gave up last year and closed production. At the time of closing its business, Ford Motors had less than a 2% share in the Indian passenger vehicle market.

Tata Motors released the video of all-new Safari ahead of the delivery of the much-awaited SUV later this month. The SUV was first unveiled as Gravitas at the Auto Expo 2020 is now presented as Safari. The video highlights all the important features of the SUV.

The next generation SUV

The video starts with a blue color Safari coming out of a hanger in an aerodrome and starting running on the runway just like an airplane does. Here the Tata Motors want to project the new Safari in a new way. The SUV parks in the mid of airfield and awaits its owner who lands from a chopper.

Exterior

First is the majestic stance of the SUV and then the camera moves towards the chrome studded tri-arrow front grille and then showcases the iconic roof rails with Safari branding. The tyre size is R18 and they come with machined alloys. The man from the chopper sits in the SUV and the camera goes towards the back to show signature twin light LED tail lamps.

Interior

The man sits inside the SUV and fixes the seat showing the boss mode. There are all captain seats for extra comfort. He relaxes on his seat and looks upwards towards the majestic skydome. The SUV moves at a fast pace with its xenon HID projector headlamps on. He parks the SUV in front of his home to take his family out on a long drive where other features of the SUV are highlighted for the viewers.

What Is New In The New Tata Altroz iTurbo?

Tata Motors launched the 2021 variant of Tata Altroz iTurbo model with an introductory price of ₹ 7.73 lakh to ₹ 8.85 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This premium hatchback car is now available in three iTurbo variants – VT, XZ and XZ+ trim. The XZ+ trim is available in both petrol and diesel variants and it is priced between ₹ 8.25 lakh to ₹ 9.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively.

Engine

Tata Altroz iTurbo is powered by a new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. While similar engine is used for Tata Nexon facelift but the company says that it has made several changes in the engine and the most important change is the iTurbo that stands for intelligence. Paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, the engine produces 108 bhp of raw power and a torque of 140 Nm between 1,500 – 5,500 rpm. The company claims 18.13 kmpl fuel efficiency with this engine. Also, it is claimed to achieve 100 kmph sprint in 11.9 seconds.

Interior

The new iTurbo trims will come with black and light grey interior topped with new perforated leatherette upholstery. On technology side, there will be a 7-inch stick-out display panel, automatic climate control, rain-sensing wipers, cruise control, fast-charging USB port and a cooled glovebox.

Exterior

While the new Tata Altroz iTurbo is nearly identical to the regular model, the company has offered a new Harbour Blue trim for XM+ and upward variants. Similarly, the XZ and XZ+ trims are provided with a contrast black roof. Other features like projector headlamps, glossy black grille and dual-tone alloy wheels will continue with the new trims.
