So, in this article, we are talking about the legendary player Dhyanchand. The great Hockey player Dhyanchand was born on 29 August 1905 in Allahabad. His father was a British Indian Army man and also a good player of hockey. After attaining some elementary enlightenment, he merged with the Indian Army in 1922. Subedar Major Tiwari motivated him to play Hockey, major Tiwari was also a sports lover.
To saw the outstanding performance of Dhyanchand in hockey, the Indian Army promoted him again and again and in last eventually he become Major.
Major Achievements of Dhyanchand:-
He won 3 gold medals in Olympics and made India proud. In 1936, at Berlin Olympic Game he was elected as a captain of the Indian hockey team. In his entire carrier, he had scored over 400 international Goals. The Government of India honored him in 1956 with the third-largest civilian Padma Bhushan Award and to celebrate his birthday as National Sports Day since 2012. The Government of India also give tribute to the great player by changing the name of National Stadium, Delhi go Dhyanchand stadium in 2002.
