India took strong note of UK’s opposition Labor Party calling for international intervention on Kashmir issue. But Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Raveesh Kumar made it clear that there was no question of engaging with the Labor Party or its representatives on Kashmir.

The Labor Party passed an emergency motion on Kashmir in its meeting on Wednesday. The resolution demanded the right of self-determination for Kashmir and called for party leader Jeremy Corbyn to make way for international observer to “enter” the region to press for the right of the people.

The Labor Partytabled the resolution at its annual party conference in Brighton is very critical of the official stand of the UK government. It states that the party should attend the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to raise the Kashmir issue on the international forum.
