Telangana Could Call The Army And Order Shoot-At-Sight To Enforce Lockdown

Telangana government could impose total curfew and even order “shoot-at-sight” for violation of lockdown that is the only way to fight the spread of coronavirus said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.

KCR urged people to lockdown

The CM said that the US had to call army to enforce lockdown. If people didn’t follow the coronavirus lockdown, the situation where the government would have to impose a 24-hour curfew and issue shoot-at-sight orders could arise. The CM urged people to avoid that situation. KCR was addressing the media hours PM Modi announced a nationwide day lockdown for 21 days.

The CM also urged his ministers, MLAs and corporators in Hyderabad to take to streets to help police in enforcing the lockdown. He warned that the situation where army had to called had to be avoided at any cost.

Telangana has 36 coronavirus cases and it has over 19,000 people under surveillance.

The state has imposed curfew from 7 pm to morning 6 am. No one would be allowed to move out. Also, the shops would remain shut during the curfew period. In case of emergency, people can dial 100 to call the police for help.

KCR said that the government had collected the passports of all those that are under home quarantine. They are 114 members and that there COVID-19 reports would be available soon. Also, he said that the government would take action against those found to be selling goods at higher price.

First Coronavirus Patient In Bhutan Is A US National With Travel History To India

On Friday, Bhutan confirmed the first case of coronavirus in the country. The patient was a 76-year-old US citizen with a travel history to India. He travelled with his 59-year-old partner and 10 passengers.

Coronavirus in Bhutan

The first coronavirus patient had been kept in isolation in the COVID-19 hospital since his return from Guwahati on March 2. Considering his old age and underlying conditions, he had been kept on oxygen support. He had his partner and 10 passengers out of which 8 were Indian nationals.

His close contacts – his partner, driver and guide – also had been quarantined at the designated hospital but they were asymptomatic till their admission in the hospital.

Bhutan on alert mode

The Indian passengers travelling with the coronavirus patient had also been quarantined. Also, the 90 contacts had been traced to prevent spread of the virus. Contact tracings were done according to the itinerary of the patient. Starting from Paro airport to Thimphu, to Punakha and back, the officials are tracing everyone that had come in contact with the patient.

Also, the four crew members of the flight and staff of Le Meridien and Densa Boutique Resort were asked to go on “home quarantine” where they were advised to stay away from family members until all suspicions were ruled out.

The government was working closely with Indian embassy to provide the best care to Indian nationals. Also, the health officials were closely monitoring the health of people sent on “home quarantine”.

Novel Coronavirus Took 360 Lives In China And 1 In Philippines On Sunday

The novel coronavirus has claimed 360 lives in China exceeding the 349 mainland fatalities from SARS outbreak in 2002-03. The fresh death was reported from a major city far from the epicenter. The city is under lockdown.

China under the threat of novel coronavirus outbreak

56 new fatalities were reported from Hubei that is the epicenter of the outbreak. But Chinese authorities are still struggling to contain the virus but locking their cities down. On Sunday, the authorities confined people to their homes and closed roads in the eastern city of Wenzhou.

Wenzhou is approximately 800 kilometers from Wuhan from where the novel coronavirus emerged at the world stage. The virus has infected close to 17,000 people and spread to 24 countries outside China.

International outbreak of novel coronavirus

The first international fatality was reported from Philippines where a 44-year old patient from Wuhan died due to infection. The virus has spread to G7 countries – Canada,France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States have confirmed cases of novel coronavirus infection. The G7 countries would discuss a joint response said Germany’s health minister Jens Spahn.

In Thailand, an elderly novel coronavirus patient from China showed dramatic improvement when treated with a cocktail of flu and HIV drugs. He tested negative for coronavirus for 48 hours later. Thailand has 19 confirmed cases of novel coronavirus.It was found that most of the people affected with novel coronavirus had a travel history to China.
