Boris Johnson officially accepts the prime ministerial responsibility on Wednesday and vows to fulfill his promise of Brexit under a new deal with the 28-member economic bloc on October 31.

Mr. Johnson is appointed Prime Minister by Queen Elizabeth II on Wednesday. By number he the 55th Prime Minister of Britain and 14th appointed by the 93-year-old-monarch. Also, he’s 3rd Prime Minister since Britain voted for Brexit in June 2016.

Promises to fulfill

Boris Johnson made many promises on his first day at office. He made it clear that Britain is walking out of Brexit on October 31 without any ifs and buts. He has 99 days to make a deal with 28-member EU bloc and get a ceremonial exit from the union. He further promised to make streets safer by adding 20,000 additional police. He also vowed to work on improving social care and bring education reforms in addition to work on the free trade deals around the world.

Johnson’s India connection

Mr. Johnson describes himself as a son-in-law of India by virtue of his wife Marina Wheeler whose mother was an Indian, Dip Kaur. He stressed on the need of strengthening UK’s relations with India. According to Mr. Johnson, he’s excited to establish a personal relationship with Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India to develop a true bilateral relationship.

Boris Johnson said that he looked at opportunities instead of challenges that lie ahead. He said the he would focus on free trade deals to lift billions out of poverty.

Challenges For The New British Prime Minister Boris Johnson

Boris Johnson, the former Mayor of London and Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, is set to take over the reigns of Britain from the outgoing PM Theresa May, who will tender her resignation to the Queen on Wednesday. She will take questions in the House of Commons before resigning.

The new Tory leader defeated his closes rival, Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt by 45,497 votes. Boris Johnson got 92,153 votes but Hunt could manage only 56,656 votes. Boris Johnson who’s considered the face of 2016 Brexit referendum would officially become Britain’s PM on Wednesday.

Brexit deal

Since its introduction in 2016, the Brexit referendum has toppled two Tory prime ministers, will dominate the political landscape with several conservative ministers threatening to resign to oppose any attempt for a “no-deal”Brexit. Economists have warned the country that the deal would disrupt trade and force UK into recession.

May struck a withdrawal agreement with 28-nation bloc but UK’s parliament repeatedly reject her attempts to pass the deal. Finally, she decided to step down from the chair of British prime minister.

On Tuesday, Bale gets win over Real Madrid after making a goal-scoring return with a 2-2 draw at the international championship arsenal.

Dutee Chand and Hima Das: Pride Of Cricket Frenzy India

Hima Das and Dutee Chand won gold medals for India but they regret their hard work isn’t worth the media attention that cricketers get. The athletes said that they had been practicing 8 hours a day for a long time just to run for 11 seconds but they didn’t get the love that cricketers get. They further said that only 8 to 10 countries participate in cricket world cup but in athletic championships, athletes from 200 countries participate.

Hima Das (19) won five gold medals in various athletics meets in Poland and the Czech Republic.

Dutee Chand achievement

Dutee Chand (23) became the first Indian woman track and field athlete to win a gold medal in the World Universiade. She’s a national record holder and winner of 100m dash event in Napoli. Her record in the World Universiade is 11.32 seconds from start to finish. Even Milkha Singh and PT Usha couldn’t win gold in this tournament.

Kashmir Is A Bilateral Issue Admits Trump

The US administration has switched into damage control mode after Trump’s remarks that PM Narendra Modi asked him to mediate between India and Pakistan. But the US administration reaffirmed that Kashmir is a bilateral issue to be resolved by India and Pakistan.

A State Department Spokesperson said that Kashmir was a bilateral issue for both parties to discuss and that Trump administration welcomed Pakistan and India sitting down and the Unite States stood ready to assist.

Indian stand

India has categorically rejected Trump’s claim that PM Narendra Modi sought his meditation to resolve Kashmir issue. According to Trump, PM Narendra Modi asked Trump to mediate on the sidelines of G20 summit in Osaka, Japan.

Pakistan stand

PM Imran Khan welcomed the remarks by Trump saying that Trump would have payers of Pakistani people if he can mediate and resolve the issue.

US stand

The Trump administration is busy containing the issue that is spiraling into a political crisis. India is clear on its stand that PM Narendra Modi request no mediation and that Kashmir is a bilateral issue. The US administration is pressing for the view that what Trump offered is a wish to resolve the Kashmir and other issues as early as possible.

Iran Starts Tanker War With UK In The Strait Of Hormuz

Iran seized a British oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz on July 12 in retaliation to the British Royal Marines seizing its oil tanker in the British territory of Gibraltar on July 4.

Situated between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, Strait of Hormuz has Iran on its north and Oman peninsula on its south. With almost one-third of the global crude oil passing through this stretch, it is one the busiest shipping lanes in the world. Its size – 21 nautical miles at its narrowest point – forces tankers to pass the stretch from the territorial waters of Iran and Oman.

Tension with Iran

The US has bitter relations with Iran since the 1979 Iranian Revolution that established strict Islamic rule by deposing the US-backed Shah of Iran. But the present-day military standoff is the result of 2000 economic sanctions imposed by the United Nations, US and the European Union.

The world was of the view that Iran was developing nuclear capabilities with the help of a uranium enrichment program and that it could use the nuclear power to make weapons. In 2013, the then US President Barack Obama opened dialogue with the new regime in Iran. After two years, Iran agreed to scale down its nuclear development program and let the international inspectors visit its facilities with the condition of lifting the sanctions. But the agreement got struck.

Imran Khan And Team Comprising Top Generals Reach US For July 22 Meeting

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan arrived in Washington but this time with Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar JavedBajwa and the director-general of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Faiz Hameed and Advisor to Prime Minister for Commerce Abdul Razzak Dawood.

This is the first time in history of Pakistan that a PM arrives with two top serving military generals for a bilateral meeting with US President.

Trump Khan meeting

Imran Khan landed in the US for a 3-day official visit with US President Donald Trump. The Trump Khan meeting would take place on July 22 and the two leaders are expected to discuss issues including Afghanistan and peace in South Asian region.
